About Juliette

I am a warm, integrative counsellor with over 15 years’ experience supporting women, children and young people. My work is grounded in the belief that real change happens when you feel truly heard, accepted and understood. Inspired by Carl Rogers’ core values of empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard, I offer a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

I have extensive experience working with adolescents facing anxiety, depression, self-harm, low self-esteem and complex family or school pressures, as well as supporting women through challenging life experiences. Whatever brings you to counselling, I will work alongside you with care and respect, helping you move towards greater clarity, confidence and emotional wellbeing.

How I work

I work with young people aged 11 and over, adolescents and adults.

I offer face to face sessions in my counselling room in Torquay, Devon or online sessions via teams.

Counselling is your time — a space where you can talk about whatever feels important to you, at your own pace. Whether you are facing a specific difficulty or feeling unsure about why things feel hard, we can explore it together.

My approach is warm, non-judgemental and grounded in the core conditions described by Carl Rogers: empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is central to my work. I want you to feel heard, understood and accepted just as you are.

Alongside my person-centred foundation, I also draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT helps us understand how our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are interconnected, and how patterns can develop that keep us feeling stuck. Together, we can gently explore these patterns and consider new ways forward.

I also use psychoeducation where helpful — offering clear explanations about experiences such as anxiety or anger, so that they feel less overwhelming and more understandable. Where appropriate, I can introduce practical coping strategies, such as breathing techniques and grounding exercises, to support you between sessions.

Above all, my aim is to create a safe and steady space where you feel supported in making sense of your experiences and moving towards positive change.

What to Expect in Your

Introductory Session

I offer a free 20-minute introductory session, either face-to-face or by telephone.

This initial meeting gives you the opportunity to see whether you feel comfortable speaking with me and whether I feel like the right fit for you. Choosing a counsellor is an important decision, and it’s essential that you feel safe and at ease.

You are welcome to share a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions about how I work, and find out more about what ongoing sessions would involve.

There is no obligation to continue — the purpose is simply to help you decide what feels right for you

What to Expect in Your First and Ongoing Sessions

Your First Session

In our first session, we will explore what has brought you to counselling and what you are hoping to gain from it. This is an opportunity for you to begin telling your story in a safe and supportive space.

I may invite you to complete a short questionnaire to help us understand your current mood levels. If we are working using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I will also explain the CBT model so you can see how thoughts, feelings and behaviours are linked, and how this framework can support our work together.

Ongoing Sessions

In subsequent sessions, we may use a brief “bridging” exercise to link the previous session with the current one. This can help consolidate learning, reflect on insights, and notice any changes since we last met.

Each session remains your time. We will focus on what feels most important to you, whether that is something immediate or part of a longer-term goal.

Fees

£50.00 for a 60 minute session, either face to face or online.
